Hi folks. Welcome to the Blog Site for 3372. This is our collective blog, and it is here where we’ll be doing some various writings.

I should first say congratulations to you all for making it this far and getting your webdesigns published. Soon, we will start adding the links to your personal webpages/templates here. Those links will become our official “blogroll” for this site.

The other major point of this blogspace is for you to publish your write ups on our reading assignments here. Since you’ll be sharing them with other members in the class, we’ll all get a chance to see the work and experience you’ve had working with the book and working with the net.

In order to get started at this site and to the other work of discussing creative webtexts, there are a few steps you need to go through. First, you need to register for this site so that you can become an editor and author. Do this by clicking on the register button on the right side. A password will be mailed to you. You can then login into the site.

Two Important Rules for this site:

  • Whenever you write a post, save it to the Category that has your name. Please do this EVERYTIME! Otherwise, you cannot get credit. (The category box is to the right.)
  • Whenever you need to italicize, include a link, bold, make a list, or anything aside from just type to change your formatting, you’ll need to write using html tags.

Your first assignment using the blog is this (please read this all before clicking): go to NeoVox. NeoVox is an electronic publication on news, art, and issues written and managed by undergraduate students. (You might consider sending your final project their for publication if it meets their standards.)

  1. Read the about description and look around all the site has to offer. Limit your time! Don’t spend more than 7 minutes doing this!
  2. After you’ve read the about desciption and looked around the site. Go to the Studios section (from the top menu) and pick a project that you are drawn to. (Note: be careful with navigation. Once you enter a project, it can lead you right into other projects. It’s important to be mindful of where one project begins and where one ends.)
  3. After you’ve picked a project you like (criteria?: it’s up to you. What are you drawn to?), study it and come to an understanding of its content, its navigation, and speculate on how the designer may have created this project.
  4. Then, come to this blog and do a write up on it. In your write up, include
    • The title of the project you picked, the author of the project. Link the project’s title by copying the url and using the link tag.
    • Why you picked this project instead of the others
    • A Summary of what the project does.
    • A description of how you reacted to it in three ways: what it made you think about (intellectual), what it made you feel (emotional), what other things it made you think about that may relate to your own personal and professional experiences (associative–this does not need to be “logical thinking”), and your admiration level as a “writer” or “designer” (from the production point of view).
  5. Write a concluding statement, your final thoughts

When you are done, edit your writing carefully and make sure to click the category that has your name ! !
